Kindergarten

An All-Day Kindergarten Where Children and Parents Feel Safe

Did you know that it was Friedrich Froebel who first introduced the termkindergarten” in 1840, as he likened children to “plants in a garden that should be nurtured and cared for?

A positive and inspiring kindergarten experience prepares your child for a successful start to school. At Little Star Day School, we believe that this experience can only happen in an environment that focuses on well-being, safety and nurturing.

Individual learning in Kindergarten.

Personal Groups

In small groups we can offer individual attention and support each child according to their needs. To support families, we have the option for children to join a kindergarten class even during an ongoing school year. Full-day kindergarten and Holiday Camp also support working parents so they do not need additional care. Daily feedback, monthly newsletters, and regular parent-teacher meetings connect parents with the teacher while providing a glimpse into all the fun your child is having at Little Star Day School.

Cutting-edge Curriculum

Our kindergarten pedagogy is based on the guidelines of the national (Lehrplan21) and the international (IPC) curriculum. Implementation includes guided pedagogical sequences as well as themed learning areas that allow children to play, discover and learn independently, with a partner or in a small group.

Mandarin complements our curriculum.

Everything Needed for School and Life

  • Individualized Learning: We know that every child learns in a different way. Our holistic Early Years Curriculum EYC ® program provides our educators with the tools and guidance to meet the natural curiosity of young learners and fully support each child as they build problem-solving skills and confidence.
  • Explorers and Discoverers: From birth, children are explorers. They use their senses and existing tools to observe and explore their world. They document their findings by writing, drawing, or taking photographs, and then analyzing them.
  • Language & Literacy: Literacy at a young age is critical to development. From baby hand signs and story time in younger groups to phonics and eventually reading and writing in preschool and kindergarten groups, your child will develop important reading skills and a love of reading.
  • Creative Artists: Whether it’s painting, crafts, or music, visual and creative arts stimulate imagination and creative thinking. In daily creative sequences, we give children the time and materials to practice their skills and create masterpieces.
  • Social skills: In daily interactions with adults and other children, children learn to understand themselves and their relationships with friends, adults and family. They recognize differences and similarities with others and see how they can make an impact in the community.
  • Exercise: Children for whom sports and exercise played an important role at a young age are also active in sports as adults. During different sequences, children have the opportunity to get to know different forms of movement. During swimming, playball, yoga and outdoor activities, we show your child the proper movement, balance and motor skills techniques.
  • Math: Through a variety of activities, children at Little Star Day School KiGa can gain early experiences in math. Age-appropriate sequences help children develop logical thinking, ingenuity and perseverance in problem solving. Our Singapore Math program introduces numbers, measures, and patterns through hands-on learning.
