Your Benefits with Our Toddler Care

Discovering the World Through Play

The Early Years Curriculum© for Toddlers

Our scientifically-based Early Years Curriculum© provides the ideal environment for your toddler's holistic development. Tailored to the special needs of 2- to 3-year-olds, we specifically promote all important areas of development:

Creativity & Music

Movement songs flow repeatedly into the daily routine – whether during group time or transitions between activities. Your child receives diverse opportunities to express themselves creatively through music, crafting and painting, and to shape their world.

Physical Development & Wellbeing

Toddlers discover their bodies through movement – by climbing, jumping, balancing and free play. We create safe opportunities for this both indoors and outdoors. With fresh, child-friendly nutrition, regular rest periods and daily outdoor activities, we additionally strengthen health and wellbeing.

Language & Early Literacy

With a growing vocabulary, your child begins to express thoughts and feelings in more nuanced ways. We support this developmental step with loving dialogues, stories, songs and picture books – in German and English. This creates a natural language environment where early multilingualism can grow through play.

Early Mathematics & Science

Our educators consciously integrate numbers, shapes and colours into daily life to create an early foundation for scientific and mathematical understanding.

Social-Emotional Development

The desire for independence becomes clearly visible in toddlerhood. Your child consciously chooses friends for the first time and develops pride in their own achievements and abilities. We support this development sensitively and create an environment where social interaction is learned through play.

What Parents Say About Us

Voices from Our Little Star Family

5.0
Family Thompson
Seefeld, 2021

"We'd like to thank every single member of your team who looked after our son with such warmth and care. We dropped him off with you each day feeling completely at ease, and that peace of mind is absolutely priceless! Thank you for everything!"

Family Grey
Kilchberg, 2017

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for five wonderful years of care for both our children. It wasn't just childcare - it was affection, kindness, security and love. That meant the world to us. We're going to miss you all terribly. We are big fans of Little Star Day School."

Family Xin
Sihlcity, 2022

"It was an absolute pleasure for our family to bring our daughter and son to Little Star, and they had the most wonderful time there. When our daughter first arrived at Little Star, she was far too shy to speak to anyone. By the time she left, she was chatting away confidently with teachers in both fluent English and German. Our son started when he was just a 10-month-old baby, and when he left at age 4, he'd grown into a bright, confident little boy - completely ready for school. Many thanks for all your brilliant work!"

Your Questions, Our Answers

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Toddler Care

In this section you'll find answers to frequently asked questions. Do you have further questions or would you like personal consultation? Please get in touch with us. We look forward to hearing from you!

How is the transition from crèche to toddler group managed?

The move from crèche to toddler group happens smoothly and individually. Several weeks before the transition, your child regularly visits the new group for short periods, accompanied by a familiar key worker. This way they can get to know the new rooms, carers and children whilst still having the secure haven of their familiar environment. In personal conversations, we prepare both you and your child together for this developmental step.

How is language development promoted in toddlerhood?

Language development undergoes a significant surge in toddlerhood. We promote this through daily language rituals such as songs, finger games and picture book activities. Our educators are trained to act as language role models and stimulate natural communication through open questions and active listening. The bilingual environment (German/English) follows the immersion principle and enables playful encounters with both languages.

How does the settling-in period work for a new toddler?

Settling-in takes place gently according to the Berlin Model and is individually adapted to your child's needs. In the first phase, you accompany your child for a few hours whilst they explore the new environment. We gradually extend the care time and reduce your presence. A key worker stands particularly close to your child during this transition period. Settling-in usually takes 2-3 weeks and is accompanied by regular reflection conversations.

How are special developmental needs addressed?

Every child develops individually. Through systematic observation, we recognise early when a child needs particular support in certain areas. In close consultation with you, we adapt our educational offerings and advise you about further support measures when needed. We work with external specialist services and support the integration of early intervention programmes into our daily care routine.

How is creativity promoted in toddlers?

In our studios, toddlers have daily access to various materials such as paints, playdough, natural materials and everyday objects. We value the process of creative expression, not the end result. Children experiment freely and discover their own means of expression. Regular music and movement activities complement the creative offering and promote holistic development.

What care times and models are offered for toddlers?

We're here for you Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm. You can choose between full-day or part-time care and 2 to 5 days per week. Our facility remains open year-round, except for public holidays. In a personal conversation, we'll find the right model for your family.
