Discovering the World Through Play

Welcome to Our Kindergarten Zurich & Zug

In our international kindergarten, we open doors to a world full of discoveries and possibilities for children between 3 and 6 years old. We unite the structure of the Swiss education system with the diversity of international pedagogy, creating a place where every child can grow at their own pace. Our native-speaking educators accompany your child through the day – sometimes in German, sometimes in English, but always with an open heart and keen awareness of each individual child's needs.

In our bright, stimulating rooms and private garden, children find the ideal environment daily to learn through play and flourish. They experience a balanced mix of guided activities and free play, form their first deep friendships and discover their own strengths. This way, they naturally develop those abilities that will strengthen them on their future path: self-confidence, creativity and the joy of discovering together.

Your Benefits at Our Kindergarten Zurich & Zug

Learning with all the Senses

The Early Years Curriculum© at Kindergarten Zurich & Zug

Our kindergarten concept in Zurich & Zug is based on the belief that every child learns and develops in their own way. With our specially developed Early Years Curriculum EYC©, we offer a holistic approach that builds on children's natural curiosity and turns them into researchers and explorers.

Our pedagogy combines the requirements of the national Lehrplan 21 with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), creating a unique learning landscape where guided educational sequences alternate with themed learning areas. This enables your child to play, discover and learn independently, with a partner or in small groups.

The seven pillars of our kindergarten concept:

Individual Learning

Our holistic early development programme enables our educators to support each child according to their unique way of learning. This way we can specifically strengthen problem-solving skills and sustainably build your child's self-confidence.

Research & Discovery

We harness your child's innate research nature and encourage them to observe and explore their world. They document their findings through writing, drawing or photography and analyse them together.

Language & Literacy

From phonics to first reading and writing, your child develops important language skills in both languages. Our bilingual approach promotes not only language competence, but also joy in working with words and texts.

Creative Arts

Through daily creative sequences in painting, crafting and music, we stimulate imagination and creative thinking. Your child receives time and materials to develop artistic skills and create their own masterpieces.

Social Competencies

In daily interaction with others, your child learns to understand themselves and their relationships. They recognise differences and similarities and discover how they can be effective in the community.

Movement & Body Awareness

Through diverse activities such as swimming, playball, yoga and outdoor adventures, your child develops joy of movement, body awareness and motor skills – an important foundation for lifelong wellbeing.

Mathematics & Logic

With our Singapore Math programme, we introduce numbers, measurements and patterns through practical learning. Age-appropriate activities help your child develop logical thinking, inventiveness and perseverance in problem-solving.

What parents say about our kindergarten

5.0
Family Thompson
Seefeld, 2021

"We'd like to thank every single member of your team who looked after our son with such warmth and care. We dropped him off with you each day feeling completely at ease, and that peace of mind is absolutely priceless! Thank you for everything!"

Family Grey
Kilchberg, 2017

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for five wonderful years of care for both our children. It wasn't just childcare - it was affection, kindness, security and love. That meant the world to us. We're going to miss you all terribly. We are big fans of Little Star Day School."

Family Xin
Sihlcity, 2022

"It was an absolute pleasure for our family to bring our daughter and son to Little Star, and they had the most wonderful time there. When our daughter first arrived at Little Star, she was far too shy to speak to anyone. By the time she left, she was chatting away confidently with teachers in both fluent English and German. Our son started when he was just a 10-month-old baby, and when he left at age 4, he'd grown into a bright, confident little boy - completely ready for school. Many thanks for all your brilliant work!"

Your Questions, Our Answers

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Kindergarten in Zurich & Zug

In this section you'll find answers to frequently asked questions. Do you have further questions or would you like personal consultation? Please get in touch with us. We look forward to hearing from you!

From what age can my child enter kindergarten?

Our kindergarten is open to children from 3 years old. Group allocation is age-appropriate, so educational offerings are optimally tailored to the developmental stage. Entry is possible at any time, even during the ongoing school year.

How does bilingual education work in kindergarten?

We work according to the immersion principle "One Person – One Language". Each educator consistently speaks in their native language (German or English) with the children. This way children experience both languages in authentic situations and can acquire them naturally. All activities, materials and offerings are available in both languages.

How does kindergarten prepare children for school?

Our concept is orientated towards both the Swiss Lehrplan 21 and the International Primary Curriculum. We specifically promote all competencies that are important for a successful school start: from precursor skills in reading, writing and mathematics to concentration and perseverance, as well as social skills. Regular development discussions inform you about your child's progress.

How does settling-in work at kindergarten?

The transition to our kindergarten is designed to be as gentle as possible. Initially, you accompany your child for a few hours and experience the new environment together. A key worker takes particularly loving care of your child and gradually builds a trusting relationship. Step by step, we extend the care time - always in harmony with your child's individual pace. This gentle process gives your child the security they need to feel comfortable with us and form new friendships.

What care hours does the kindergarten offer?

Our full-day kindergarten opens its doors Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm - perfect for families with the most diverse needs. According to your wishes, you can choose between full-day care or half-day models in the morning or afternoon. You can also arrange the number of weekdays flexibly between two and five days. The special feature: during school holidays, our popular Holiday Camps ensure that your child receives continuous loving care and you can go about your daily routine with peace of mind.

How is collaboration with parents structured?

A warm and trusting educational partnership is particularly close to our hearts. During daily collection, we personally exchange information about your child's small and big experiences. Our monthly newsletters and digital documentation platform give you colourful insights into projects and activities. In regular development discussions, we discuss your child's progress together and plan next steps. Joint celebrations and parents' evenings round off our vibrant kindergarten community and provide space for exchange with other families.
